THE LG Freeze 2009

In the mid 90's a fresh faced Austrian teenager, started dominating the Nokia Air and Style, his composure under pressure and trademark Switch Frontside 900s, earned him 3 titles in succession. It seemed nothing could stop Stefan Gimpl. Fast forward 14 years and Stefan Gimpl is still Europe's most successful snowboarder, this year he was out to improve on last year's second place. No one said being World Champion is easy, with riders from 14 nations competing in the London World Cup Big Air, Stefan would need to hit top form to stay top of the pile.

Ben Kilner, Nate Kern, Jamie Nicholls and Jack Shackleton drew huge cheers from the 10,000 strong crowd as they flew the flag for UK hopes. With a team of seven the Norwegians arrived in force, but would they be up to the challenge after having to endure a long row across the North sea. Finns, Swedes, Czechs, French, Belguim, Swiss, Swedish, Hungarians, Dutch and Slovak contenders joined the invading force looking for the all important World Cup points.
